This is a very important contribution to the primary research on the Kennedy assassination. It contains essays which prove (a) that the Zapruder film was substantially edited and cannot be taken as anything like a real record of the event, and (b) that the autopsy X-rays were faked. Both claims have been made before but the essays in this book seem to me – no expert on the physical evidence – to take us a great deal further forward. (This view is also shared by Anthony Frewin, who brought the book to my attention.) There are some longuers in the book, and some repetition; and there are some essays trying to apply the philosophy of science to the assassination which will satisfy no-one who has read a little on the philosophy of science. Nonetheless this is a big important book which will be of serious value to anyone interested in the assassination – and will be of particular use to those who have access to a complete set of stills from the Zapruder film or the film itself on CD-rom. For the centre-piece is the essays on the Zapruder film; and while they are intelligible, with work, without access to the film frames, having the film to view would be a distinct advantage.
