11. The JFK literature: some recent titles [Lobster #30 (Dec 1995)]
... following deaths, all of which give rise to legitimate suspicion and certainly warrant further investigation: Karyn Kupcinet, who allegedly had foreknowledge of the assassination, was strangled in Los Angeles, 28 November 1963; Jack Zangretti, a minor mob figure who managed a gambling resort and hotel in Oklahoma, told friends while Oswald was in custody that Jack Ruby will kill him within twenty-four hours and someone close to Frank Sinatra would be kidnapped to take attention away from the assassination. Both events happened, and Zangretti was found two weeks later floating in a lake with bullets in his chest; Eddy Benavides, brother of Domingo Benavides who was a witness to the Tippit slaying, shot in the ...

12. More JFK Assassination books [Lobster #27 (Jun 1994)]
... , booksellers' catalogs, and so on, and I've come up with a different figure. I've only included those where the assassination is the central matter of the book or where the book would not have been published had the assassination not taken place. For example, the assassination is not the main concern of Seth Kantor's biography of Jack Ruby but Kantor would hardly have written the book had the assassination not taken place. The figure I've arrived at is about 350 books (including US government publications from the Warren Report onwards). The author of Case Closed doesn't say the assassination is mentioned in more than 2000 books, he says more than this number 'have been written about ...

... to bits of this and if it's a fake, he tells the same story on air as he does in the manuscript. Page 33 Summer 2011 Lobster 61 spelling and lack of grammatical knowledge. Mackenzie's version of the events in Dallas can be summarised thus: everybody was involved mob, military, anti-Castro Cubans, FBI, Oswald and Ruby, LBJ, 'Mac' Wallace....but not, apparently, the CIA. The CIA are almost entirely missing from this story. It's the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) Mackenzie writes about frequently. For a JFK buff the oddity of Mackenzie's account is the way he brings together a collection of minor trails many presumed previously ...

... may have been assisted in this LIENVOY project by Richard Cain, an expert telephone tapper and adjunct to the CIA-Giancana assassination connection, when he was in Mexico City in 1962 as a consultant to a Mexican Government agency. Richard Cain at the time was also part of that Dave Yaras-Lennie Patrick-Sam Giancana element of the Chicago mob with demonstrable links to Ruby in 1963, and the House Select Committee on Assassinations speculated that Cain may have been part of the 1960-61 CIA-Mafia plots against Castro. Unmistakably Staff D, the small secretive part of CIA in which the CIA-Mafia plots were housed, controlled the LIENVOY intercept intake inside the Mexico City CIA station (Ann Goodpasture, the responsible officer, was ...

15. Who shot JFK [Lobster #46 (Winter 2003)]
... poverty. When Johnson died in 1971 the news agenda was dominated by the other traumatic events of America in the 1960s and 70s other assassinations, the Vietnam War, the Weathermen, bombings at home; etc. etc. and he disappeared from view. Looking back on it there were two obvious focuses for the assassination research, Ruby and Oswald; and most of the effort went on Oswald. Not only was there was little knowledge of Texas among the research community, the climate of the times pushed the researchers, who were mostly left-liberals, towards the American secret state and away from Texas, crime and mere venal politicians. As for Collum and Sample, who ...

He was later a key figure in covering up Chiang Kai-sheck's involvement in the heroin traffic from Asia to the US, publicly blaming the Communist Chinese instead. (He also recruited Jack Ruby as an informant in Chicago in the late forties before Ruby moved to Dallas.) Kefauver's third mistake, his key political mistake, was to get up the nose of Harry Truman. ... - Marine. But we don't know what this meant. It may have had nothing to do with killing JFK. And as we get close to Dealey Plaza, there is nothing linking either the Cubans or the CIA to the events that day in Dallas. The only member of the cast of characters definitely identified around the assassination is Jack Ruby; and while in prison Ruby identified LBJ as the man behind the shooting. Although I disagree with DiEugenio's thesis, this is a really good book, with much new and newish material. Highly recommended. Robin Ramsay ...

Seth Kantor died in August (Obituary in' Rocky Mountain News, August 19, 1993). A journalist in Dallas, Kantor knew Jack Ruby and bumped into him at the Parkland Hospital in the melee surrounding the arrival of the dead JFK. So I think it is very logical to see Oswald's behaviour as being like this other Marine. RR: What about the persistent little rumours that Ruby was a homosexual? PDS: Both Ruby and Oswald. That was part of the initial conspiracy, one of the conspiracy angles. And that's where I disagree with so many about the David Ferrie material, even though the House Committee took it seriously. I suspect all that Ferrie thing because the point of it was to show ( ...
