61. JFK: Oswald? Which one? [Lobster #47 (Summer 2004)]
... (c) www.lobster-magazine.co.uk (Issue 47) Summer 2004 Last| Contents| Next Issue 47 JFK Oswald? Which one? Harvey and Lee: How the CIA framed Oswald John Armstrong Arlington, Texas: Quasar Ltd., 2003 $40, plus postage, from <www.jfkresearch.com/armstrong/> This is a major publishing event in the JFK assassination world. Parts of Armstrong's work has been on the Net and he's spoken at some of the big JFK conferences. His work-in-progress became spoken of as 'the John Armstrong research'; and finally we have the book, a self-published 1000 pages; plus a CD-Rom containing documents he cites. (I haven't even looked at the ...

... of John Whitten, the CIA's head of covert operations for Mexico and Central America in 1963. Within hours of Kennedy's assassination he was leading the CIA's investigation into the event. Two weeks later he was removed. According to Morley this was at the behest of Richard Helms who felt that Whitten might reveal too much of the CIA's awareness of Oswald prior to the shooting. It was not until 1996 that Whitten's lengthy deposition (made under the pseudonym 'John Scelso') was finally declassified by the Assassination Records Review Board.(13) Morley has also written at length about one George Joannides, a Miami based CIA officer, responsible for monitoring one of the anti-Castro Cuban groups with ...

64. Who shot JFK [Lobster #46 (Winter 2003)]
... and action, 'faction' as he cheerfully calls it. He adds little significant new evidence but provides some biographical details on Wallace. Bizarrely, he calls Wallace a Marxist (as does Estes), apparently based on nothing more than a 1949 FBI file. In one of his 'faction' sections McClellan has Wallace, the Marxist, recruiting Oswald, another Marxist. So in his version, if LBJ and Ed Clark were behind the shooting, it was carried out by two Marxists! There is also one little snippet which supports Loy Factor's strange and frequently implausible tale. Factor said he first met Mac Wallace at the funeral of Texas politician Sam Raeburn; he had gone with ...

There, above the preface, was a quote from Don DeLillo's novel about Lee Harvey Oswald, Libra (1988). I do not know anyone in the critical community who has ever taken this novel seriously. However, it is a work much loved by literary critics, academics, Guardian reviewers and others with little or scant knowledge of the Kennedy assassination. Their argument goes that the novelist's imagination can bring an understanding to ...

... for Kenneth De Courcy's Intell-igence Digest after the war. De Courcy, in turn, had extensive contacts with far-right British military and intelligence circles favoured by the LEL. The LEL's founder and leader Arthur Keith Chesterton (better known as 'A.K.') was the cousin of the famous writer G. .K. Chesterton. A one-time member of Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists (BUF), Chesterton broke with Mosley in 1938. During World War II, he supported Britain's efforts against Hitler and thus never had to face the charge of treason that haunted Mosley throughout his post-war career. (3) In the late 1940s, Chesterton even held a fairly prestigious job in Lord Beaverbrook's ...

The content varies from the readable to the dazzling. The JFK section include 45 pages of John Armstrong's important recent work on 'the two Oswald's' in a subset on Oswald, and pieces by names familiar to anyone semi-seriously interested in the subject: Gaeton Fonzi, John Newman, David Mantik and Gary Aguilar, as well as Probe's Jim DiEugenio and Lisa Pease. The Malcolm X material, though interesting and relatively little known, is the weakest: the author's desire to link the plot by the Black Muslims ...

69. How many divisions does the Pope have? [Lobster #44 (Winter 2002)]
... Buenos Aires Durcansky emerged as a major theoretician, providing, with Leon Degrelle, (8) the intellectual material for Peron's Third Position philosophy that appeared in late 1947. This closely resembled, in its most compact form, the Intermarium rallying call of 'Europe for the Europeans, without Russia and the Americans', and provided the template that Oswald Mosley, Yockey and others would rework over the coming decades. The Third Position quickly spawned its own journal Der Weg, the funding for which came from Ludwig Freude who had backed Peron's campaign. At this time, in the late 40s, it was both hoped and expected by those promoting the Intermarium/Peronist world view that the ...

What, free-lance supporters? He means Lee Harvey Oswald, presumably, plus others. Almost forty years after the event and a professional historian is still peddling one of the original cover stories, apparently unaware of even the basic facts of the case. He continues: 'But this and an abundance of other conspiracy theories have led to no firm conclusion. Certain facts are now clear: for ...
