... 1976 by the Chilean DINA and CIA-linked Cuban exiles. Then in 1980 Moss and de Borchgrave referred to left-wing Washington and Amsterdam institutes funded by the KGB in their execrable 'novel' The Spike - until IPS lawyers forced changes in the text. In 1984 Crozier wrote to the Spectator attacking IPS director Richard Barnet (a former Kennedy aide) and accusing the IPS of being 'a front for Cuban intelligence, itself controlled by the KGB'. Barnet sued, the litigation reaching a climax in 1986 when Crozier lost a key court battle to prevent the Spectator retracting. Shortly afterwards, the litigation ended with Crozier paying his own costs. The case reached the headlines when ...

... , Washington DC 20004, USA. Catalogues Although Tom Davis Books (PO Box 117, Aptos, California 95003) is the best single parapolitical mail order catalogue, M and A Book Dealer, (PO Box 2422, Waco, Texas 76703) has a very large, more specialised collection of material on American assassinations from Lincoln onwards. Kennedy assassination buffs in particular should have a look at their catalogue. ... at the Foreign Office. In February 1940 Butler received information which made him sure that the French wouldn't fight. (De Courcy is modest: the information came from him.) (3 ) Without the French, thought Butler, peace had to be made. Butler saw Lord Halifax - who agreed. An envoy was sent to Joseph Kennedy, U. S. Ambassador. An isolationist, Kennedy approved and saw Halifax. De Courcy is vague at this point but, presumably, talks began, avenues explored. Given the limited communications equipment of the period, establishing a reliable and secure back channel into 'the enemy', was no simple task. The state was reading ...

... membership of NATO and the EEC. The real irony is that this is all being done too late. The Republicans are going to lose the American presidential election. George Bush is slowly drowning under the mountain of coke some of his flunkeys were running to raise funds for the Contras in the new privatised American imperialism. With Dukakis - from Kennedy family territory - the next President (unless something spectacular is staged, say an assassination that could be dumped on the left), much of the US state support for this know-nothing revival on the right will vanish. And the yahoos will look back on the Reagan years and ask themselves what they really did get out of ...

... a radical Christian! The central document in their allegations is The Affidavit of Daniel P. Sheehan, 45 A4 pages with appendices and an index. Most of it is extremely solid, but there is a section, reprinted below, dealing with the mid sixties, which is very interesting, amounts to an explanation of the assassination of John Kennedy, but is, in my view, wrong. At any rate, I have never seen anything resembling this in any other serious look at the assassination. That this is an explanation of November 22 1963 isn't stated but is definitely implied by the juxtaposition of paras 70.9 and 70.10. It is also worth noting ...

... important, chiefly for what it shows can be done in recent history if the work is done. Most of the reviews it received were sloppy, non-comprehending or egocentric. The best of a poor lot was David Sexton's in the Spectator (31 May 1987) which at least had the intelligence to see that the rival version by Kennedy and Knightley was pretty poor.
