151. Sources [Lobster #26 (Dec 1993)]
... and illustrations, but the material is distinctly patchy. So issue 2 carries a much reprinted 1986 article by U.S. conspiracy theorist John Judge on the Jonestown massacre (which I might start to take seriously if it had some credible sources attached to it-- which is true of most of Judge's stuff); a report on a recent JFK assassination conference; an interview with the AIDS theorist Alan Cantwell, and some shorter pieces on the Waco siege, the Danny Casolaro story, and the death of the British MI6 agent Ian Spiro. A $5.00 bill should elicit a sample copy from Paranoia, PO Box 3570, Cranston, RI 02910, USA. (Subs outside ...

152. Plot elements in the Colosio Murder Mystery [Lobster #32 (Dec 1996)]
... Alex Cox 'God Helps the Bad when they outnumber the Good' (Mexican proverb) Business brought me to Mexico City on the day Luis Donaldo Colosio, Presidential candidate for the PRI (Partido Revoluncionario Internacional), was assassinated in Tijuana. The TV coverage of the event was every bit as obscure and unhelpful as the TV reporting after the JFK murder and worse than the coverage of the attempt on Ronald Regan's life. The news video of the assassination didn't play once; instead heads talked and voxes popped.... What follows is a chronology of events relating to, or concurrent with, the assassination of Colosio on March 23, 1993. It is culled from printed ...

... and groom their rising careers' (emphases added). (4) And there I was thinking Moshe Dyan was an Israeli war hero and national icon! The official version of the murder of Rabin is that he was murdered for making concessions to the Palestinians. On the evidence presented by Chamish this is about as accurate as saying that JFK was murdered by Oswald working for the KGB. Chamish shows in some detail that the Rabin killing was a variation on the Sirhan Sirhan attack on Robert Kennedy. Yes, Rabin's 'assassin' was firing at him at close range; but he didn't fire the fatal shots. Chamish shows that the 'assassination' was meant to be a phony ...

... ..' We may reasonably presume that Denmark was not the only state to do this.... Is Google in bed with the spooks? John Simkin runs a large Website on the Kennedy assassination <www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/JFKindex.htm> In October he sent me an e-mail, of which this is an extract. During my research on the JFK assassination I received information that an anti-communist group called the Intercontinental Penetration Force (Interpen) was involved in the operation. Interpen was a privately funded right-wing group that received support from the CIA in operations against Castro. I produced a page on Interpen for my website. I also produced biographies of the group's leading members, including those I ...

... getting pretty close to making an irresistible case for this hypothesis. No 6 is a particularly fine issue. It includes an excerpt from the memoirs of the veteran American journalist Fred J. Cook, on his early attempts to get his doubts about the Warren Commission into print, and three examples of the kind of micro-textual analysis which the serious JFK assassination researcher does so well. Editor is Jerry Rose, State University College, Fredonia, New York 14063. Intelligence/Parapolitics We should have given a lot more attention to the Paris-based Intelligence/Parapolitics than we have to date. It really is wonderfully interesting, simply, and thoroughly done. In./PP receives, translates ...

... The previous version was 'The 70 greatest...' and the authors haven't bothered to write a new introduction which still refers to 70. If you haven't seen one of these compendiums, it is pretty much as you would expect: short sections on subjects ranging from the silly (Jim Morrison's death/non-death) to the serious (JFK, 9-11). The bigger the subject, the less satisfactory are the sections. To be of any interest a book like this demands that the author/s know the subjects they are writing about to provide a plausible overview. This the authors manage on some subjects but not others. The section on JFK's death for example, ...

... with the SCAD concept, which I discuss below. In this book deHaven-Smith does two main things. He traces the current use of the expression 'conspiracy theorist' back to the notorious 1967 memo issued by the CIA to all its agents and assets, with advice on how to respond to critics of the Warren Commission's verdict on the assassination of JFK: namely that those criticising Warren's conclusion should be described as 'conspiracy theorists'. The author notes that this turned out to be 'one of the most successful propaganda initiatives of all time'; the 'conspiracy- theory label has become a powerful smear that, in the name of reason, civility, and democracy, pre-empts public discourse, ...

... because we digressed away from whatever the main point was at the time, and some because it was just too long and something had to go. Faced with the idea of interviewing someone like Scott I chose not to attempt a detailed poke through the man's writing. That would have been fun for me, interesting for a couple of dozen JFK buffs, but probably unintelligible to most people. Inevitably we got onto the JFK assassination, but not, I hope, before some other, equally interesting, material. Peter Dale Scott has a number of 'hats'. He is Professor of English at the University of California, a literary critic, a poet, a translator of ...
