... quoted on conspiracy theory sites.3 These stories are entertaining but highly improbable in places. A third Arrigo sister, Dr. Linda Gail Arrigo, says that Dr. Sue Arrigo is a schizophrenic and her tales are delusions.Dr. Sue Arrigo denies this, calls it a smear and claims to have been drugged and tortured by the CIA. This one, as the old cliché has it, is going to run and run. ... in the investigation of the case, in one chapter I pull together some bits and pieces of evidence - the key piece dating back to 1998 - which show that the whodunit aspect of the case has been solved: LBJ had Kennedy killed to save his political career and keep himself out of jail. It wasn't the mob, or the CIA, or the anti-Castro Cubans; it was LBJ, a bent Texas politician. Last | Contents | Next ...

626. Defector Politics: or, grooving with Mr G. [Lobster #29 (Jun 1995)]
... Czech defector, Joseph Frolik, in 1974 and 1975 Andrew and Mr G recycled Frolik in KGB . 'During the 1960s', they told us, 'the StB (Czech) residency in London ran three Labour MPs. ' They named one of the three, Will Owen MP, citing as sources Frolik's memoir, ghost-written while under CIA control, and Chapman Pincher! (This bit must be down to Andrew.) They did not mention that Owen was conning the Czechs, getting paid a lot of money for material that was not classified. They also reported Frolik's claim that the late John Stonehouse was a Czech agent. In so doing they prefered Frolik's memory of ...

... , mostly taken from Hounam. 10 I can't think of a more striking example of an attempt to destroy the career of a political colleague. most of the major Kennedy assassination researchers, Mellen does not take this seriously. In her case, this is presumably due to a career-long support for Jim Garrison whose inquiries focused on the CIA. Nonetheless Professor Mellen has written a very good book, thoroughly documented and full of interesting and new bits and pieces.1 1 If you haven't read Robert Caro's books on LBJ, this contains all the big stuff and it will be a revelation. ... he had shot her. Joe's story is carried, in fictionalised form, in the re-write of Bowart's Operation Mind Control (reviewed below). Vialls now believes that, programmed in some fashion, he shot Fletcher from an office of the Hughes Tool Company close to the Libyan Embassy. (Hughes Tool has been a cover for CIA.) The death of Penkofsky: a modern myth continues In Lobster 27 I commented on the developing myth surrounding the death of Oleg Penkofsky, generally assumed to have been shot after his trial in the Soviet Union. I noted that the Sunday Telegraph was recycling a story from the Soviet defector Suvorov that Penkofsky had been fed, alive ...

... early 1970's MI5 had concluded that the 'threat' of the Communist Party had declined; and switched resources to what Peter Wright sneeringly called the 'far and wide left' – the Trotskyist fragments. MI5's lack of interest in the 'Soviet threat' triggered the formation of the anti-subversion lobby which gathered round Brian Crozier in the early 1970s – CIA, MI6 and IRD personnel who were not persuaded of the decline of the 'Soviet threat'. (This was part of the wider debate about the reality of détente between NATO and the Soviet bloc.) Crozier and his chums certainly did not think MI5 was on the ball where the perceived menace from the Soviets and the left was ...

... £8 .99 (www.waywiserpress.com) This is a second edition and the first received some glowing reviews from the major media. I read only the second half of this nicely produced, thoroughly bound 260 page paperback: the essays on the New Statesman under Kingsley Martin; Encounter, the Congress for Cultural Freedom and the CIA; and Karl Miller and the London Review of Books. These essays are very good, very well informed and a pleasure to read (and reread). I would think that anyone who enjoys reading Lobster will enjoy this. A keeper. Page 152 Winter 2009/10 ...
